Brand profile: By Johnny
By Johnny founder, Johnny Schembri, credits his early days at the Paddington Markets for some of his success as a designer. He says selling at markets allowed him that closeness with his customer base and immediate, and constant, feedback. Johnny rightly states that this is critical for a burgeoning business.
And it shows! By Johnny has escalated in success since Johnny's market days in 2009. The recent Resort 17 collection is not just one of his best collections but it is quite seriously one of the best collections I have ever seen come out of Australian fashion and I'm struggling to find one internationally that I am as excited about. It is THAT good!
It's not just whites and blacks and pops of exciting metallics to round it out, it's the perfect combination of each. White, silver and rose gold. Black, silver and gunmetal. The colour combinations are rich, exciting and delightful. Slipping on a suede skirt with multi-layered metallic pleats in these sumptuous colour combinations is one of the most exhilarating fashion experiences I have ever had. You just can't get it wrong in these pieces.
These gorgeous skirts can easily pair back with a white tee shirt and a pair of our Department of Finery Natasha pony hair slides for an effortless weekend outfit that screams "FASHIONISTA" and brings your A-game to brunch (and really, life is too short to waste a day in an outfit that is any less than fabulous). But they can just as easily pair with one of Johnny's fabulous, over the top (whilst being completely understated - go figure), backless tops for sophisticated chic that would rival any runway model.
And those low cut black and white dresses and the flutes skirts - don't even get me started. I can't even deal.
This collection is by far one of the highlights of this season for me and I'm delighted to share it with you on mikoandmollie.com
It's a sell out collection nationwide and we were lucky enough to purchase the last of the sell out pieces from By Johnny, arriving on the Australian fashion scene late in the season. Lucky us though! Because these pieces are breathtaking and our customers are LOVING them.
Check out the collection here and tell us what you think on Facebook or Instagram!
Lots of love xx
