What a week it’s already been and it’s only Thursday!
This week Courtney and Lily flew over to Sydney for the first few days of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia as invited guests of PE Nation, Tigerlily and Alice McCall. And they did not disappoint!
We started with a world class show from PE Nation. The energy was electric. A thorough showcase of the seasons to come flaunted the design prowess and cult look cultivated by founders Pip Edwards and Claire Tregoning. But the finale stunned crowds.
After an elongated digital display built suspense among the crowd - with everyone wondering what was going on. Was the show over? Where are Pip and Claire? - the models returned to the runway, this time mounting the blocks along the back wall in swimwear and goggles. They marched to their places, turned to face the crowd, purposefully placed their goggles over their eyes and instantly a barrage of water cascaded from the ceiling ensconcing them in water for about 5 minutes as the digital display continued in the background sending messages of strong, fit bodies in swimwear.
The models then marched and danced off stage and Pip and Claire ran down the runway, elated with everything they’ve created and worked for over the years as the crowd erupted in violent applause. It was electric, emotional, full of energy and one of my personal proudest moments in Australian fashion history. To see these two women create such a phenomenon in such a short space of time, and to keep pushing themselves, is truly inspiring and my heart bursts with pride for them.
PE Nation has well and truly cemented itself as Australia’s fashion darling.

Next up we saw Tigerlily return to the MBFWA runway for the first time in 17 - revived and refreshed with incredible creative and design talent behind them and one of our personal favourite sales managers, Taylah Watson. With a team like this we expect to see incredible things from Tigerlily in the future and we certainly will if their MBFWA show is anything to go by. They have a number of former Zimmermann staff on their creative team and we’re seeing a familiar influence in their beautiful soft floral prints and gorgeous silks. It’s a gorgeous feminine vibe at a very affordable price point for Australian designer.
We loved their linen pieces especially the hot pink suit and some of their slinkier dresses and cool, casual play suits and sundresses for summer.
We are also OBSESSED with their accessories - loving the beautiful, delicate gold necklaces and fine earrings for layering and they have stunning mother of pearl pieces coming through for the polished boho vibe this summer. We are so excited to launch Tigerlily Resort 20 at Miko + Mollie later this year - you are going to love it!
And lastly we saw a stunning display of feminine, floaty pieces at Alice McCall. A gorgeous soft colour palette with pops of neon influence, beautiful soft florals and ruffles galore.
This collection is absolutely divine - Alice McCall collections just keep going from strength to strength whilst staying true to their soft, feminine aesthetic. These pieces are going to make you feel like the queen you are and we can’t wait for them to arrive!
We had media contacts keeping an eye on the Thurley show yesterday and will report back on that one shortly as well. Also expecting big things from them!
We hope you’ve enjoyed our little style update from MBFWA. We know you’re going to love what’s left to come for the rest of 2019. But stay up to date with our Top 10 Trends for 2019 and you’ll be effortlessly fashion forward all year (as well as buying well made classics you’ll treasure forever).
You know our motto - buy well, buy once. We’re no ode to fast fashion. It’s all about class, sophistication, timelessness, with an edge. The world’s resources are too precious to waste on t shirts you wear 5 times and have to throw away. Invest in those beautifully made pieces that you’ll treasure for years to come. That’s what we do and that’s what we bring into the store every season so we hope you enjoy what’s to come.
